“The goal of reading is the application, in our lives, of what we read. Not to learn it by heart, but to take it to heart. Not to practice using our tongues, but to be able to receive the tongues of fire and to live the mysteries of God.”

– Elder Paisios of Mt. Athos

This exhortation, from one of our modern day Athonite fathers, reminds us to strive to remain mindful at all times of the Scripture from the gospel according to St. John where Christ emboldens His disciples with the words “…I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit…” (John 15:16). God willing, this blog will bring forth spiritual fruit, as its main purpose is to increase our understanding and communion with Christ God. Concordantly (too much?),  as we share the message of the Gospel of Christ, may the warmth of Christ ever grow in us who are in the Northland.
